    The flight to Bhutan a.k.a Druk Yuel (kingdom of the thunder dragon) is an amazing experience in and of itself. Be prepared for spectacular views of the Himalayas on

    board of our Royal Bhutan Airways. As you enter the Bhutanese sky, the captain will introduce you to the sacred Jumolhari and Jichu Drake mountains who act are thegatekeepers to our beautiful capital valley. Our only international airport is unlike any commercial airport you have seen in the past. You may be the only plane on the ground at the time and as the doors open and you walk out of the plane, you will be greeted by fresh air and lush green mountains. After brief immigration check, your guide and driver will welcome you in traditional way of welcoming a friend with Khadhar (white scarf) promising with good omen for your wonderful stay in the country. Don’t be surprised by their dress. It will be unlike anything you have seen before. Your adventure in Bhutan has begun. En route, you will stop for photoshoot at the ancient Iron Bridge below Tamchog Lakhang Temple. It was built by Thangtong Gyalpo who was a yogi, an architect, engineer, physician, and a saint! The 14th century temple is still maintained by his descendants. Upon arrival in Thimphu, check into the hotel and then you can take a leisurely stroll through the township. Thimphu is the smallest of all the Himalayan capitals and one of the only capital in the world without a single traffic light! Late afternoon, you will visit the impressive Trasichoe Dzong. This fortress of the glorious religion is the administrative and religious center of Bhutan. The fortress houses the Royal Throne, National Assembly, and the seat of the Chief Abbot of the central monastic body.

    After breakfast, stop at Pangri Zampa, the monastic school of astrology. It has been observed as an interesting activity for all clients during the stay in Thimphu. (Note,

    advance notice of at least a week is required), Meet with Ms Denden, who will be organizing the whole astrology meeting with the monks. (Since she arrange all this

    activity and if you may, you can get her small gifts like key chains or any other souvenir but remember this is just a suggestion but a tradition here but definitely not

    mandatory). National Memorial stupa,Kuensel phodrang of the 51m/163ft Gigantic statue of Buddha Doderma, Arts and Crafts School a.k.a Zorig Choesum that offers a 3-6 years course on Bhutanese traditional arts and crafts teachings that includes painting, wood carving, embroidery and statue making and load more. Simply Bhutan Living Museum, the only one of its kind in the country. It is a living museum and a photo studio. They aims to preservation and promotion of culture being one of the four pillars of Gross National Happiness (GNH).Such initiations generates employment opportunities to young job seekers and also provides skills through trainings and workshops. More importantly, the objective here is to raise fund to support Youth Development Fund in conducting many youth related programs all around the country.Afternoon,drive to Punakha (3hrs drive, 76km/51miles distance, 1280m/4090ft elevation). En route stop at Dochula Pass at 10,000 ft. The pass offers panoramic views of snow capped mountains and valleys on a clear weather day. Punakha Dzong, the former capital of Bhutan until 1955. The finest creation of Bhutanese architecture in the country. It is believed that not even a single nail has been used while building the Dzong(fortress)

  • Day 03 : DRIVE TO PARO ( PARO ) B

    Time permitting, you can take a 10 minutes gentle walk to the Metsina Farmers Market with farmers selling seasonal vegetable and the most popular (of the region) rice

    puffed snacks called the ‘Maykhu’. En route, stopover at Thimphu and visit Weekends Market, probably the biggest domestic market in the country. (open on Friday,

    Saturday and Sunday) where people from Thimphu and surrounding villages come to buy and sell produce, that ranges from dried chilies and yak butter to textiles and

    bamboo products. Arrive in Paro, Late visit to Lekshey Jungey Primary School visit and interaction with the students. (If you may) Please buy some stationary to donate it at the school. (The school have no support from the government financially so their source of income or anything that keep the school running is from donations and support from individual tourist and locals. However, this is not mandatory; it depends on your own will. Bhutan Karma Trails and team have now been active member for the last 2yrs. We provide grocery and transportation during study tour from time to time

  • Day 04 : TIGER’S NEST HIKE ( PARO )B

    The hike to the legendary Takstang Monastery, a.k.a the Tiger’s Nest. The Monastery is situated at an altitude of (10,000ft/3125m) up on a vertical rock face overlooking the valley. This is the legendary site where Guru Padmasambhava, flew from Tibet on a tiger’s back and fought the five demons that were creating an obstacle to the path of Buddhism. After an hour laborious climb, you will arrive at the cafeteria which serves as a beautiful view point for the Takstang Monastery. (Optional) Stop at the tea house, gazing at the Monastery, and will have great photo opportunities or else you may want to stop by on your way down. There will be refreshment drinks and then you will continue on the hike a further 1.5hrs till the Monastery and the surrounding temples.Lunch will be served at the cafeteria on your way back.Evening, experience traditional herbal bath and enjoy a farewell dinner at farmhouse.
