Introduction

  • Day 01 : Auckland Arrival ( Auckland / North Island )

    “Haere Mai”; – Welcome to Auckland, the City of Sails. After clearing customs and immigration you’ll enter

    the friends and family arrivals hall. Once you enter this area, our representative  will be here to meet you, and transfer you to your accommodation.

    The “City of Sails” is New Zealand’s largest city and surrounded by two harbours.

  • Day 02 : Auckland City & Waiheke Wine Tour ( Wellington / North Island ) B

    Begin your day with a tour of Auckland’s scenic city highlights, followed by an afternoon tasting world-class wines amid the beautiful surroundings of Waiheke Island. Starting in the central city, travel over the iconic Auckland Harbour Bridge, enjoying views of the harbour and city skyline. Visit the Viaduct Harbour and bustling Queen Street, and explore the Auckland Domain, the city’s oldest park.

    Continue through charming Parnell Village, where historic buildings have been transformed into a chic shopping area with a range of boutiques, craft and specialty stores. You’ll pause for a short morning tea stop here (own expense), then travel along the waterfront to Michael Joseph Savage Memorial Park, above Mission Bay. Named after one of New Zealand’s most revered Prime Ministers, the park offers spectacular views of Eastern Bays, Auckland city and the Hauraki Gulf.

    Following your morning city tour, enjoy a 40-minute ferry ride across the Waitemata Harbour to Waiheke Island, a haven of beaches, eateries and boutique vineyards. Upon arrival you’ll be picked up by luxury coach and whisked away on a guided tour of three of Waiheke’s premier wineries – Mudbrick EstateCable Bay and Te Motu.

    Enjoy the romantic surrounds of olive groves and rustic herb gardens as you taste the wine varieties on offer at award-winning Mudbrick Estate. Take in the views across the Hauraki Gulf back to Auckland from Cable Bay as you sample their fine wines, accompanied by a delicious snack platter. Te Motu Vineyard is the last stop on your Waiheke wine tour – specialists in Bordeaux-style wines, overlooking beautiful Onetangi Beach.

    The tour concludes at Waiheke’s Matiatia Wharf for a picturesque afternoon cruise back to Auckland city, arriving back at 5:30pm.

  • Day 03 : Auckland -Hobbiton & Waitomo Glowworm caves Experience - Rotorua ( Rotorua / North Island ) B/L

    Take a journey into the heart of the Central North Island, taking in the Waitomo Caves and Hobbiton Movie Set on a full-day sightseeing tour.

    Setting off from Auckland at 07:00 am, travel through the lush farmland of the Waikato and King Country regions, enjoying your driver.

    Take a guided tour of the famous Hobbiton Movie Set, located inside a picturesque 1,250 acre sheep and beef farm near Matamata. Here, the village of Hobbiton was carefully created in amazing detail as a film location for the Lord of the Rings and Hobbit movie trilogies.

    During your guided tour of this amazing location you’ll see sights like the Hobbit holes, the Mill and the Green Dragon Inn, and learn how farmland was transformed into a living, breathing piece of Middle-earth. After exploring Hobbiton, tuck into a delicious lunch at the Green Dragon Inn.

    At the world famous Waitomo Glowworm Caves, take a 45-minute guided tour through impressive underground caverns and learn how stalactites, stalagmites and other limestone structures were formed over millions of years. Your tour includes a boat ride through the Glowworm Grotto – glide silently along an underground river as you gaze at the twinkling glowworms overhead.

    After visiting Waitomo and Hobbiton, continue to Rotorua, arriving in the early evening.

  • Day 04 : Rotorua Sightseeing: Te Puia, Rainbow Springs & Agrodome show ( Rotorua / North Island ) B .

    Discover three of Rotorua’s best visitor attractions on this morning Rotorua sightseeing tour.

    Gain an insight into New Zealand’s Māori culture at Te Puia, then experience Rotorua’s famous geothermal activity with a tour of the neighbouring Whakarewarewa Thermal Valley – a place where mud pools bubble and boil and geysers shoot steam high into the air. You’ll also see Te Puia’s woodcarving and weaving schools and see how these ancient Māori art forms are being passed on to a new generation of master artists.

    Then see our agricultural industry in action at the Agrodome, a working organic farm where you can find out all about farming life in New Zealand, watch a sheep shearing display and see sheep dog trials where the hard-working farm dogs show off their amazing skills.

    New Zealand wildlife and natural scenery is on display at Rainbow Springs Nature Park, where you can get up close to all kinds of native flora and fauna including the famous kiwi,

    a flightless native bird. Wander through native forest and discover New Zealand birds, fish and lizards (including the ancient tuatara), as well as exotic animals from around the world.

  • Day 05 : Rotorua -Wellington ( Wellington / North Island ) B /L

    Today you will follow the Thermal Explorer Highway through the North Island.

    Drive south to View the Wairakei Steam Valley, then, visit Huka Falls and Lake Taupo and cross the volcanic landscape of the Desert Road,

    past the majestic peaks of Tongariro, Ngāuruhoe and Ruapehu in the dual World Heritage-listed Tongariro National Park.

    Wellington is compact, cultured, and full of character. Nestled between the harbour and the hills, the downtown area is ideal for exploration on foot.

  • Day 06 : Wellington Scenic City Sights & Coastline Tour ( Wellington / North Island ) B

    Pick Up: 09:30 AM from your hotel in Wellington

    Depart on a small and intimate tour through the capital city of New Zealand.

    Head directly to the iconic cable car, your tour includes the ride up the steep cable railway to the top station.

    During your tour you’ll see Wellington’s architectural highlights like the iconic Beehive, New Zealand’s main parliamentary building, and the Old Government Buildings, the largest wooden building in the Southern Hemisphere. Old Saint Paul’s Cathedral is a fine example of Revival Gothic architecture.

    Visit the beautiful Wellington Botanic Gardens and see the Lady Norwood Rose Gardens and native New Zealand forest, and stand on the the summit of Mount Victoria and enjoy panoramic views of the city, its hills and harbour.

    Enjoy the rugged southern bays and coastline and amazing 360° panoramic views  and the breathtaking views of the city from the summit of Mount Victoria.

  • Day 07 : Wellington - Picton ( Ferry ) - Blenheim ( Blenheim / South Island ) B

    Today you will travel across Cook Strait, the stretch of water that separates the North and South Islands of New Zealand.

    This morning board the Interislander ferry, cross Cook Strait, both islands can be viewed, including the magnificent Kaikoura ranges

    and there is often the chance to see wildlife such as seabirds, dolphins, seals, whales and orca.

    Travel through the Marlborough Sounds to Picton where you board your coach for the short journey to Blenheim

  • Day 08 : Blenheim - Kaikoura Whale Watching - Christchurch ( Christchurch / South Island ) B

    After breakfast travel south from Blenheim to Kaikoura, world renowned as the whale watching centre of New Zealand.

    A whale watch tour can take you to see Minke, Humpback and Southern Right whales mixing it with dolphins and orcas.

    You can also walk to see fur seal colonies and spy on big seabirds such as mollymawks, albatross and petrels.

    This afternoon you enjoy a three hour Whale Watching experience by boat. Off the coast of the Kaikoura

    village is a marine environment so rich in nutrients that it attracts some of the most magnificent creatures with which we share our planet.

    Your comfort and safety is of paramount importance. If the sea and weather conditions are not suitable the tour will be cancelled.

    Later, continue south to the “Garden City” of Christchurch .Travel along the Pacific coast and across the Canterbury Plains to Christchurch.

    Punting on the Avon,The Christchurch Botanic Gardens ,Christchurch Gondola ,

  • Day 10: Christchurch - Aoraki Mount Cook ( Mount Cook / South Island ) B

    Today you depart from Christchurch, travelling across the Canterbury Plains and through diverse farmland to to the stunning glacier lake of Tekapo.

    where you can view the Church of the Good Shepherd by the lakeshore.

    The altar window offers awe-inspiring views of the lake and mountains.

    Your tour continues along Lake Pukaki before arriving at Aoraki Mount Cook, New Zealand’s tallest mountain.

    It towers above a splendid cast of massive snow-clad peaks that make up Mt Cook/Aoraki National Park.

    Nudging one side of Mt Cook is the mighty Tasman Glacier, a 30-kilometre/18-mile giant and one of the longest outside the Himalayas.

  • Day 11: Aoraki Mount Cook - Queenstown ( Queenstown / South Island ) B

    You have some more free time this morning to finish exploring Aoraki Mount Cook,

    For the more adventurous there are scenic flights with ski-plane landings and a MAC boat tour of the Tasman Glacier Terminal Lake.

    After lunch, head off towards Twizel and on to Ōmarama before travelling over the Lindis Pass.

    Follow the shores of Lake Dunstan to Cromwell and into the Kawarau Gorge to arrive in Queenstown in the early evening.

  • Day 12: Scenic Glenorchy - Lord of the Rings Tour ( Queenstown / South Island ) B /L

    No visit to Queenstown is complete without a trip to picturesque Glenorchy, located about 50 minutes away,

    nestled on the northern shores of Lake Wakatipu, home to some of New Zealand’s best scenery and not to mention Middle‑earth magic.

    Whether you’re a Lord of the Rings fan or just want to see the absolutely amazing scenery Glenorchy has to offer, this tour is not to be missed.

    The tour visits numerous scenic locations and shares facts, stories and history about the region including Maori history.

    On tour enjoy time at the Glenorchy wharf and a drive through the quaint township before continuing on to beautiful Paradise,

    passing Diamond Lake and viewing Lord of The Rings film locations.

  • Day 13: Milford Sound Nature Cruise ( Queenstown / South Island ) B /L

    Pick Up: 07:15 AM from your hotel in Queenstown.

    Travel by luxury coach on an unforgettable journey from Queenstown to Milford Sound. Located within

    the World Heritage Fiordland National Park, this region is rich with dense rainforest, lakes and waterfalls

    cascading from rugged mountain peaks.

    Travel through the Southern Alps via the Homer Tunnel, a 1.2km tunnel drilled through a solid mountain

    of rock. Upon arrival at Milford Sound, board your vessel for a spectacular and leisurely cruise in New

    Zealand’s most famous waterway.

    Throughout your cruise, a nature guide provides an engaging commentary about the magnificent scenery

    and wildlife. Keep a look out for dolphins, seals and penguins. A picnic lunch is included for you today

    also.

    Return to the Milford Visitors centre where you will re-board your coach for travel back to Queenstown,

    arriving at approximately 8.00pm. If the weather is agreeable there is the opportunity to fly back to

    Queenstown (at an additional cost).

  • Day 14: Queenstown to Franz Josef( Franz Josef/ South Island ) B

    Depart Queenstown this morning, travelling along the shores of Lakes Wanaka and Hawea to the Haast Pass,

    gateway to World Heritage-listed Westland Tai Poutini National Park.

    Then continue up the West Coast past spectacular mountain ranges, native forests and lakes to Franz Josef Glacier, arriving in the early evening.

  • Day 15: Franz Josef ( Franz Josef/ South Island ) B

    Fox and Franz Josef Glaciers are unique in the fact that they descend from the Southern Alps to just 240m above sea level

    amidst the greenery and lushness of a temperate rainforest. Today you have a whole day at leisure to explore.

    Perhaps enjoy an optional guided walk on the glacier, a heli-hike or a scenic flight, or an unguided walk to the terminal face.

    The terminal face of the Franz Josef Glacier is just 5km from Franz Josef township.

  • Day 16: Franz Josef -Punakaiki ( Punakaiki / South Island ) B

    Head north along the Great Coast Road, one of the most spectacular coastal drives in the world. Within a short while you arrive at Punakaiki, which is best known for its Pancake Rocks and Blowholes. The best time to visit the blowholes is at high tide when they are at their most powerful.

  • Day 17: Punakaiki - TranzAlpine Train - Christchurch ( Christchurch / South Island ) B

    The morning is at leisure. The Truman Track is a short walk worth doing while you’re here – nearing the coast it passes through typical West Coast flax flats

    before emerging onto a sprawling headland with stunning views up and down the local shoreline.

    This afternoon depart Franz Josef and travel further north along the rugged West Coast to Greymouth.

    You’ll be spoiled by some spectacular countryside with the rugged Tasman Sea to the west and the stunning Southern Alps to the east.

    On arrival in Greymouth you will check in for your train journey to Christchurch.

    The TranzAlpine is described as ‘The Great New Zealand Rail Adventure’ and is rated as one of the top six scenic train journeys in the world.

    Ascend through lush beech forests past beautiful Lake Brunner, wind through massive viaducts, cross the spectacular Southern Alps, and pass the alpine village of Arthur’s Pass situated 737m above sea level. The train then descends through river gorges and travels alongside the stunning Waimakariri River before arriving in Christchurch.
